Twins

Yes, we are having twins! Many of you have asked about the details related to this post. It has got to be the most exciting {SLASH} horrifying {SLASH} wonderful feeling ever! As many of you know, Brad and I have to "practice" a while to get pregnant. Our first pregnancy took us 19 months to achieve and this pregnancy took us nearly as long. Seeing those double lines always melts my heart. (Here I wrote about the day I found out I was pregnant. I didn't publish these personal posts until now. Again they are more like journal entries than blogs, but if you are really interested...) I have done a natural herbal fertility cleanse right before getting both of my "positives". It somehow does the trick for us! :) Well, I guess that stuff is super potent because twins?! AHHH! :) No we weren't on any special fertility drugs, and no twins do not run on either sides of our family. We were shocked to say the least. Yet somehow before I went to the Dr. I felt "different". I thought probably a dozen times "What if I have twins in there?" or "It must be a girl because Noah didn't feel like this". Right before we went in to the ultrasound room, I leaned over to Brad and said, "What if she tells us we are having twins?" and kinda chuckled thinking everyone speculates the what if's right? I realize now that it was the spirit preparing me for the news to come.

Since we have learned of our special news we have gone through several emotions. We feel overwhelming blessed at the honor of bringing two little spirits into our home. Brad worries about finances, while I worry about being a good mom to 3 under the age of 2! It took us a good 48 hours to grasp the concept that we were actually going to be the parents of twins. I cried of joy, of being scared, of losing one, etc. etc. etc.. (Here I wrote my overwhelmed thoughts right after we found out. Again, these are more like personal "journal like" entries"). Once all of those emotions had been sorted through we are left feeling blessed and a peace knowing this was meant to be. We still have our concerns, but what parents don't? It will be an adventure to say the least, but one we are excited to take together. I'm so glad to have Brad as my second half and partner in this all. {Hopefully we will still be married in 3 years ;)}

I am 3 months (12 weeks) pregnant. I am due in mid June, but twins are considered full term at 36 weeks so they should be born in mid May.

Thank you all for your sweet words of encouragement, advice, and congratulations! Should be a fun ride! :)

  12. Congratulations again Shelley! What a huge blessing. I really related to alot of the concerns you have with family and finances and timing, and 3 kids under the age of 2. I have thought of all this as well. Hang in there, do what you know the Lord wants (even if that is grad school for Brad with two new twins) and he will take care of you. Plus, little Noah will be a big brother, and I hear little boys love to be mommy's little helper. You'll do great, and Brad will too, your faith will carry you through, and the Lord will not forsake.

  15. Shelley! I am so happy for you. What a blessing after so many prayers! I know you will be wonderful. Matt's mom always told us that Matt and James were wonderful babies because all they wanted was each other. They played together and so it made life a little bit easier. You are such a strong person and I know you will get through this. I really struggled just having 2 kids under 2 but once Brooklyn got on more of a schedule, things have been wonderful. I am sure you will be the same. If you ever need anything let me know. Also, Matt and I are done having kids so I have TONS of little girl clothes. If you are having a girl I would LOVE to send you a bunch of things!!! Anyhow, take care and stay strong!

  25. Shelley,

    I dont know if this is strange, but I'm friends with Tamra, and read your blog about a fertility cleanse. I was told my chances of conceiving again are pretty low, but was wondering if you could email me some info on what cleanse you did. I'm really willing to do whatever at this point, and Tam told me a little bit about it. If you get a spare moment, would you mind emailing me at kristenharris1@gmail.com.

    Congrats big time on your twins. I can only imagine what thoughts are racing through your mind!!!

    Kristen
